Technical Diver Rescue ? Is It Really So Different From Recreational ...

AppId is over the quota

Many of the protocols taught and practiced in the classic rescue diving courses are based on three situations and their derivations:

Finding a lost dive buddyHelping a buddy in distressBringing an unconscious diver safely to the surface.

To some extent, the concepts and skills woven into these courses can also be applied to self-rescue, which means that a well-trained, well-practice, certified Rescue Diver is a good person to have around a dive site. But how well do these ?open-water sport diving skills and techniques translate over to the technical diving side of the equation?

In the broadest possible sense, a similar approach can be applied to technical dive teams when they experience trouble in the water. And when quick, appropriate action is needed to avoid serious injury or worse, sport-level training can be of use, but in each of these three basic scenarios, there are some additional factors to consider before rushing in to ?save the day.?

LOST DIVE BUDDY

Certainly the basic search techniques for a lost buddy taught in a rescue class can be employed when searching for a lost technical diver, but there are a few details that mark the search for a technical diver as different, just as a sport dive and a technical dive share some common attributes but are really very different ?beasts.?

Technical dives tend to be conducted in deeper water, or in overhead environments, or in harsher general conditions such as poor visibility and colder water: sometimes all of them at once!

Deeper water means breathing gas is used up faster (for both victim and searcher) and decompression obligations grow exponentially (five minutes of extra bottom time can require ten or fifteen additional minutes of decompression time for example). This too is a consideration for would-be dive rescuer and victim.

Overhead environments present their special challenges, and both caves and wrecks require special techniques to be searched safely and productively. Both environments may have complex passages and more than one way back to the surface. The first question should always be, is the lost diver still in there?

In some cases, a lost diver may have reduced visibility to zero by disturbing silt. This can be a double-edged sword. On one hand it can give potential rescuers a clear indication of where to look, but on the other, it greatly complicates the task of finding, communicating and rescuing a trapped or lost diver. Without very specific training, the right equipment and a cool head, this type of rescue can very quickly turn both divers into victims.

Cold water and tough conditions (strong currents for example) can make the simplest search many times more difficult, and rescuers in these conditions have to be careful that they save some energy for the rescue and for the swim ?home.? The catch phrase: ?Don?t make a victim of yourself? is never more apt than in cold, tough conditions. Once again, training, kit and experience help in these cases.

DIVE BUDDY IN DISTRESS

Part of the pre-dive checks that TDI suggests include a self and buddy stress assessment. This, coupled with a strong buy-in to the tech diver?s credo: ?Any diver can call any dive at any time for any reason,? does seem to help to minimize the incidents of technical divers panicking at depth. But pushing beyond the comfort zone does bring the specter of panic closer for even the most experienced diver. The emphasis on staying within the limits of the team?s training and experience, coupled with a focus on situational awareness as a required skill for technical divers, remains the best tool for helping manage ?Buddy Distress.?

Another help in preventing panic is to work hard to make sure the dive starts with the best possible chance of going smoothly, and on this front there is nothing better than all divers working from a pre-dive checklist. CCR instructors and experienced divers have been pushing this practice for a while and there is starting to be a welcome overlap into the open-circuit community. A crucial element of a checklist is a thorough inspection of each diver?s kit with emphasis on ?potential failure points? such as hoses and o-rings. Prevention is the best policy when we consider the management of equipment failure at depth? one common cause of diver panic.

SURFACING WITH AN UNCONSCIOUS DIVER

This is never an easy task and one that is made much more challenging when the diver is carrying the additional kit required by technical exposures. Also, with the rise in divers using SCR and CCR gear, some of the traditional protocols are out-dated and potentially dangerous for both rescuer and victim. In addition, the situation is made potentially worse when coupled with the requirement for staged decompression stops between the rescue point and the surface.

Each situation presents its own special needs, and the management of stage bottles, expanding drysuit, counter-lungs, wing, and a falling oxygen partial pressure during ascent all present a formidable challenge. The best possible advice to prepare for the very unlikely event that a diver has to bring an unresponsive diver back to the safety of shore or boat is PRACTICE. Remember in this type of situation it?s results not style that wins points, AND surfacing with an unresponsive diver is easy when there is more than one rescuer!

The secret to keeping your rescue diver skills ready for actual use, as always, is practice. If you would like to improve your technical rescue diver skills, contact your local TDI instructor.

Blessing ground for new sports center | Woods News

?

By Jessica Pitts

More than 50 guests celebrated the future site of a sports and recreation center at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College Oct. 19, leaving small Pomeroy Pride flags ? white with Columbia blue ? as reminders.

The activity was part of a ground blessing ceremony, led by SMWC President Dottie King, with a prayer and blessing given by Father Bernard LaMontagne, assistant professor of theology.

The ground blessing was an important part in beginning the process of building the sports and recreation center. The cost to construct the sports center is anticipated to be $11 million; the community has already raised approximately $6.5 million.

Duke Bennett, mayor of Terre Haute, participated in the celebration. ?There is nothing more important than God to bless this ground,? he said.

Other speakers included board of trustee members Sue and Wayne Hamilton and Marcia and Jerry Schmidt. Jeanne Knoerle, S.P., former SMWC president and co-chancellor of the College, also participated in the ceremony.

The sports and recreation center will be 36,000 square feet, with a regulation sized basketball court seating 1,000 people and a practice gym for intramural sports. It will provide up-to-date sports facilities within the community at SMWC.

One group especially looking forward to the center is the basketball team, which currently travels to a gym in Clinton for practices and home games.

Students will also appreciate the recreation center just as much. They will be able to have a competitive game of volleyball, run around the track, or participate in activities. The center will be on the west edge of campus, behind Rooney Library, next to the guest house.

Nexus 7 3G spotted at the FCC ahead of Google event

Android CentralRight on schedule for a possible unveiling at Google's NYC event on Oct. 29, the Nexus 7 3G has passed through the FCC, with support for T-Mobile and AT&T HSPA+ bands. We also imagine Euro-friendly frequencies will be included, though manufacturers aren't required to reveal these in FCC docs.

The 3G version of Google and ASUS' tablet has been rumored since early September, when the news was broken by MoDaCo's Paul O'Brien.

Today's FCC listing doesn't bring any further information regarding the storage configuration of the new, cellular-capable Nexus 7. However, as it's a premium model, we wouldn't be too shocked to see this arrive with 32GB of internal flash.

A 32GB Wifi-only version of the Nexus 7 has already been extensively leaked. Both new N7 variants are expected to be unveiled at Google's "Playground" event next Monday, along with the Nexus 4 and Nexus 10.

With Housing Recovering, Perfect Time for a Kitchen Remodel ...

kitchen renovation

By Ryan Nickum

The past few months have shown plenty of signs the housing market is recovering, but it's interesting to note the Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University says spending on home remodeling projects will accelerate as well.

"Strong growth in sales of existing homes and housing starts, coupled with historically low financing costs, have typically been associated with an upturn in home remodeling activity some months later," said Kermit Baker, director of the Remodeling Futures Program at the Joint Center. "This combination is expected to produce a favorable outlook for home improvement spending over the coming months."

Not only is this good news for the economy, it's great news for those with outdated kitchen cabinets, subpar appliances and linoleum floors. Consider this news your green light to finally upgrade your kitchen.

Consider the Costs

When determining whether to remodel your kitchen, make sure you're scaling it to your budget and your available time. There's nothing fun about a partially completed remodel because you ran out of time or money, unless you're looking for an excuse to microwave Hot Pockets for all your meals.

If you choose to embark on this home improvement project, take heart in the fact that many experts say a modest kitchen remodel offers a higher level of return on investment than most other home improvement projects, especially if you do the work yourself. However, that doesn't necessarily mean you'll end up making that money back. According to Remodeling Magazine's 2011-2022 Cost vs. Value Report, a kitchen remodel has an average of 65.7-72.1% return on investment when you sell your home.

If the increased popularity of cooking programs and home improvement television shows is any indicator, the kitchen is rapidly becoming the focal point of not only homebuyers, but also homeowners. It seems an increasing number of homes hitting the market have more cash sunk into the kitchen than other rooms in the house. From expensive countertops and industrial stoves to spacious kitchen islands and farmhouse sinks, Americans are committed to maximizing their kitchen space.

Get Inspired

While American homes are awash in stainless steel appliances and granite countertops, there are plenty of other options out there. If you're looking for inspiration, the internet is a treasure trove of inspiring kitchens. Pinterest is a great source for photos of dream kitchens and innovative designs to get your creativity flowing. Members tend to repost identical photos, but with thousands of new members joining each day it's a great source for ideas.

Online real estate listings are another great way to see firsthand how other people have made made the most of their kitchen. Unlike the staged photos you'll see in design magazines, these listing photos show the kitchens of actual people like yourself. It's a simple way to virtually tour thousands of kitchens around the country, which is helpful because styles tend to vary by region. Compare the edgier, modern kitchens in Los Angeles and Miami with more traditional kitchens in Atlanta or Washington, D.C. Or check out beach houses in the Hamptons or ranch homes in Austin, Texas.

For more rustic kitchens, look for areas outside major urban areas and play around with the keyword search by typing in "farmhouse" or "country." For more modern styling, try keywords like "chef's kitchen" or "contemporary kitchen."

There's a lot of decisions to make before starting on a kitchen remodel, especially the budget and the scope of the project. Starting with firm plans and a concrete budget will keep the project from running away with itself. Whether it's just a general update or a full-blown remodel, it's important to have the paramaters firmly set.

Cosmetic changes like paint colors, cabinet doors or countertops are far simpler and cheaper than redoing the floors or replacing appliances. Be sure to consider storage options, how much counter space you'll need for prep and appliances, and other variables that will affect usability. It's tempting to go with the latest trends, but those often end up looking dated the fastest. It's hardly worth the effort if you end up with a kitchen identical to everyone else on the block.

For those who've put off home improvement projects like a kitchen remodel because of the recession, key economic indicators are saying the time is right to start them now. On the other hand, sometimes it's easier to change houses than to update an existing one.

Four DIY projects that can make your home more secure

Four DIY projects that can make your home more secure

(ARA) ? If spring makes our thoughts turn to love, the cooler temperatures of fall make many of us think about nesting ? and, often, how much more we would love our home if we improved it a little. A sense of security is one of the most comforting aspects of home, so this autumn, why not focus on home improvements that can make your home more secure?

Improving the safety of your home doesn?t have to be an expensive or time-consuming proposition. Here are four simple DIY projects that can help make your house safer:

1. De-clutter, inside and out.

Most home improvement projects are either about creating space or improving the usability of existing spaces. De-cluttering inside your home can open up rooms and offer more flexibility in how you use and decorate the space. De-cluttering the documents you store in your home can help improve its security. Getting rid of sensitive documents you no longer need can reduce your overall exposure to identity theft. Be sure to shred all documents before discarding them. On the outside of your home, de-clutter around access points. Shrubs, trees and debris that obscure your windows and doors not only look bad, they can provide cover for burglars who might try to enter your home.

2. Upgrade your appliances.

While a new dishwasher or clothes dryer may make your life easier, when it comes to improving security, think about appliances like your paper shredder or home security system. Bizarre as it may sound, identity thieves have been known to pick through trash and reassemble poorly shredded documents. Fall is a great time to invest in a cross-cut shredder that will make such an identity theft tactic virtually impossible.

3. Lock it up

The dog sitter, babysitter, house cleaner, house sitter ? how many people have had access to a key to your home in the past year? It?s prudent to switch out the locks in your home every now and then ? especially if you have reason to believe your security might have been compromised. It?s even easier to ?lock up? sensitive personal information. Invest in a locking file cabinet or fireproof lock box to store important documents. Lock up your technology by changing passwords and creating strong new ones that can help deter hackers, phishers and other scammers. Keep your computer security software up-to-date.

4. Enlist assistance

If you were building an addition onto your house, you would ask for help if you needed it. Sometimes you need help with security as well, especially identity theft prevention. Despite all the safeguards you?ve already taken to make your home more secure, identity protection is a round-the-clock job, and most of us could use some help with it. A comprehensive identity theft detection, protection and resolution product like ProtectMyID can help prevent the damages caused by identity theft.

Home improvements aimed at boosting your security don?t have to be big and expensive. Simple, cost-effective steps can help improve your home?s security. They key is to be proactive and focus on preventing a problem, rather than just repairing damage after it occurs.

Roger Moore Gives Skyfall a Big Thumbs Up

Sir Roger Moore has predicted that Skyfall is going to be a huge hit following a private screening over the weekend, and has nothing but good things to say about the incumbent 007.

Speaking at "An Evening With Roger Moore" at the Rose Theatre in Kingston-Upon-Thames last night Sir Roger revealed, "I?was invited on Saturday morning to a private screening of Skyfall. Now, I have always said that the best Bond was obviously Sean [Connery], but I?m happy to say when Skyfall is released on October 26, it is going to be the biggest [Bond film] there has ever been in the cinema, and he [Daniel Craig] will go down as the best Bond in history. It is fantastic."

Speaking to packed house on the former 007's 85th birthday to promote his new book Bond on Bond, Sir Roger went on to reveal how he had always backed Craig to make a big impact, "Before I saw Skyfall, I felt very angry about the way that the English press treated Daniel Craig. Before he?d started [Casino Royale] they predicted doom and gloom and they criticised him. I used to write letters of support to him, and I was so pleased when I saw Casino Royale because he was truly excellent in it. He?s a wonderful actor, if you?ve seen Munich or In Cold Blood, you know he?s a terrific actor."

We also happen to agree with Bond No. 3 as you'll find out in our Skyfall review here.

Bond on Bond by Sir Roger Moore is out now. Skyfall is in UK cinemas on October 26, and US cinemas November 9.

FREE List Builder ? The Viral Secret Review | Find New Articles at ...

I have been hearing alot about this new FREE service (The Viral Secret) that helps you build your email list.? I have come across a lot of list builders that really work like Viralurl and ListJoe.? Now The Viral Secret has popped up on the list building radar.? Is this list builder legit or is it just another service that claims to give you the world?

I joined The Viral Secret last week and I have to say that its not a bad product especially if you are a new beginner looking to builder your list for free.? In a weeks time I have generated about 70 leads to my list which is about 7 leads a day.? Not to bad for a free list building service.

The Viral Secret is a service created by Russell Brunson which I?m not a real big fan but I have purchased a couple of his products like The 12 Month Internet Millionaire and Do You Suck At Making Money?? The concept is very interesting but if you look at the big picture he helps his guru friends as well as himself build their list first.? If you want to sign up you have to accept joining 6 other lists of other marketers.? The good things is you are not required to stay on their lists so you can unsubscribe at any time.? I will warn you that there is an up sell of $ 97 that will be presented to you but it is not required.? The up sell can benefit you in the long run if you decide to purchase it.? They provide alot of list building training with other marketing methods added as well.

The Viral Secret set up process is very simple if you decide to join.? The only requirement is too purchase Aweber unless you already have the service.? There are video tutorials that walk you thru the entire process.? You will shown how to setup your autoresponder and how to setup your Aweber list.? You will learn how to create follow up messages in your autoresponderand you will also learn how to market to build your list.

In my opinion The Viral Secret is a great way to build a list for free.? I wouldn?t use it as my only list building resource but it gets the job done.? If you are a beginner then I would recommend using it for starters.? If you get in now you should benefit from it (especially if the 6 guru?s advertise it to their huge lists.)

Veteran journalist appointed vice-chancellor of new university

By Bijay Kumar Minj
New Delhi:?

The government of Rajasthan state has appointed Sunny Sebastian, a senior journalist, as the vice chancellor of the newly created Harideo Joshi University of Journalism and Mass Communication.

?It is a very exciting and responsible job, am looking forward to it,? Sebastian, the catholic Journalist told ucaindia.in on Monday, a day after he received the letter of appointment from Rajasthan Governor Margaret Alva.

Sebastian, 56, who has been in the journalism field for more than three decades, said he would make the university courses affordable to encourage more youth to join media.

He regretted that high academic fees have kept many talented interested young people away from media. Sebastian promised to explore the possibilities of launching scholarship for deserving candidates.

Another plan is to make the courses skill-oriented, said Sebastian, who just retired as the deputy editor of ?The Hindu,? a Chennai-based multi-edition newspaper.

The newly established journalism university was named after Rajashtan?s former Chief Minister Harideo Joshi.

Sebastian has been in Jaipur, the state capital, since 1984, covering various aspects of the desert state, including socio-political issues, heritage, movements, sustainable development, environment and wildlife.

He joined The Hindu in Jaipur in 1986 and became its Special Correspondent and the Rajasthan bureau chief in 1993.

Sebastian, a native of Kerala, began his journalism career with the Caravan published by the Delhi Press. He then worked in Surya India, edited by Maneka Gandhi, and Delhi Recorder, all based in New Delhi.

He then moved to Indore to work with the Free Press Journal. Later he joined the Rajasthan Patrika in Jaipur.

Sebastian earned his masters in English literature from Indore Christian College of Devi Ahilya University and journalism from the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in New Delhi. He was the first recipient of the Pandit Jhabarmal Patrakarita Puraskar in 1999.

Sebastian also holds a position in the Rajasthan State Wildlife Board in an advisory capacity, and is a member of the state government?s committee to recommend artistes? names for the Padma Shri and the committee to look into implementation of Journalists? Wage Board recommendations.

Essential Home Comforts To Pack on Holiday

Home Away From Home.

The modern comforts, especially with teenagers in the family, can be tricky to balance when on holiday in the great outdoors. With television programmes leaving viewers on the edge of their seats, the ever-present voice of ?But I?ll miss Eastenders? leaves the dilemma of how to take your home comforts to your holiday destination. Make sure this half term?isn?t?more stressful than you need it to be with the following tips.

A top 5 guide for the complaining holiday-maker:

1:?Wi-Fi Hotspots ? Most places where you can pitch a tent or rent a chalet often come with advertising local Wi-Fi hotspots. This enables work emails to be checked, even though you have an ?Out Of Office? notification set up, as well as checking in on your social networking and uploading your holiday photos fresh from digital development. For ideas of where to visit and to look for local bargains, Wi-Fi hotspots help keeping your holiday excursions up to date. No longer are you out of touch, even though you are out of town.

2: Mobile Phones ? While most people have mobile phone contracts, the quick answer to the problems that may revolve around adventure expeditions whilst on holiday from teenagers wanting to spread their wings is grab a cheap mobile phone from eBay and use a sim only contract card to keep in contact with the explorers. Cheap, reliable and taking the stress away from wanting to know where everyone is going to be at a designated time, this is a quick fix to the concerned parent.

3: Digital Camera ? The quickest way to get a teenager back on your side is a digital camera. With every moment being documented in the modern age and photo albums slowly becoming a thing of the past thanks to Facebook and Instagram, keep up with the times and send your kids out with a digital camera and see their mood pick up on those long walks!

4: Headphones ? Still in the top 5 even after all these years, headphones are an essential item that should be on any family holiday. From the car journey to the rainy afternoon, these will always come in handy for the disgruntled child wanting isolation from games of I Spy.

5: Games Consoles ? The modern equivalent to the board game. One quick way to re-unite the family who are all driving in different directions from spending some quality time together is to take a Wii or PlayStation with you. While most households have them, it is not seen as a holiday item. When the going gets tough on a family holiday, this is the pacifier that can keep the kids busy with a babysitter while the parents go out for a meal or bring the grandparents into the grandchild?s world with fun and laughter.

Family holidays are changing with advances in modern comforts, be sure to consider what you might need to pack on your next trip.

Otherverse Games: Upcoming: Sex and Story

?First off, Modern Spellcaster is edging into the top 20 over at RPGnow, and hopefully it'll crack the top 10 or top 5 by Monday. I'm waiting on a little bit of art for the Modern Grimorie and adding a few more spells each day to it; right now, I've got about 110 modern and sci-fi focused spells, including some very kick ass damage dealers, and will probably top 120-130 by the time everything's said and done.?

Anyway, a while back a fan of mine, Alzrius, posted a very good review of Black Tokyo and a wish list for what he'd like to see in a revised edition. One part of that fairly long review stuck with me, and I've been mulling it over in the back of my head for the last couple of months.?

"Ultimately, the game needs not only a way to make sex have a reward mechanic, but also make sex (and, perhaps, a wider array of non-combat interactions) have as many options and variables as combat does now."

The other night, I finally figured out a way to incorporate not only a reward mechanic into sex, but to tie the narration of the act into the ongoing campaign storyline. This is an excerpt from an upcoming short PDF, entitled Sex & Story for Black Tokyo. (Note the final product will have about twice as many options as you see here, and related starting talents.)

Take a look, and let me know what you think. I had initially considered modifing Paizo's relationship rules from the Jade Regent Adventure Path, but they just seemed too clunky, adding an unnecessary subsystem to the game. My relationship rules are basically just a refinement of the existing Diplomacy rules with some neat action point mechanics built in.?

Relationships, Sexual and Otherwise

??????????? Sexuality defines Black Tokyo- enjoying wet pleasure with willing (or not) new lovers, exploring the limits of the body and the limits of morality itself are as important of challenges as slaying oni and battling Amakaze minions. Convincing a cute 19 year old bishonen to offer you his virginity is a function of social skills- especially Diplomacy, though sexually predatory characters can try their luck with Bluff or Intimidate.

The associated Diplomacy DC for sexual and relationship matters are shown below. The player can take 10 or take 20 on a DC to begin a relationship, reflecting a prolonged and subtle courtship. The player can usually take 10 on other sexually oriented Diplomacy checks, at the gamemaster?s option, but usually can?t take 20.?

A character may substitute a Bluff or an Intimidate check at the gamemaster?s description, though such a dishonorable course carries its own consequences. Using Bluff may be considered an evil act at the gamemaster?s discretion, and if the Bluff fails or is discovered later, permanently increase the DC of all future sexual Diplomacy checks by +1d4.

Using Intimidate is an evil act and the player is considered to have committed rape. That means the Eyrines Sisterhood and their guns will be showing up at the player?s doorstep sooner or later?.

Diplomacy Check DC

Sexual or Relationship Goal

DC 15

Relationship

Convince a friendly or helpful NPC who is attracted to your species and gender to begin a casual relationship with you. This relationship is non-sexual and only includes minor displays of affection, appropriate to the culture. If involved in an ongoing relationship, you reduce the DC of future checks to convince the NPC to perform sex acts by DC -5, and once you beat DC 15 for normal sex acts, you can always achieve that DC (and get vanilla nookie) without a check with that NPC.

Time: one day

DC 22

Marriage

Convince a friendly or helpful NPC who you have already begun a relationship with to enter a long term legal and religious bond, as appropriate to their culture. Reduce the DC by -1 per month of an ongoing relationship, to a minimum DC 15. Alternatively, convince the NPC lover to begin a planned pregnancy with you.

DC 15

Vanilla

Convince a friendly or helpful NPC to perform sexual acts considered acceptable and mainstream in their culture with you. Time: 15 minutes-hour

DC 20

Kinky

Convince a friendly or helpful NPC to perform slightly transgressive, moderately kinky sex acts that would result only in mild social shame if revealed. Anal, baby! Time: 15 minutes-hour

DC 23

Transgressive

Convince a friendly or helpful NPC to perform extremely transgressive, very unusual sex acts with you. If you?re looking for noose play, ponygirls and poop, look right here. Time: 1d4 hours

DC 28

Vile

Convince a friendly or helpful NPC to perform dangerous or morally repugnant or highly illegal sex acts with you. This includes things like snuff sex, pedophilia, incest, and worse stuff. Time: 1 day

Ending a Relationship

??????????? The gamemaster usually determines when a relationship with an NPC ends, unless the player makes it very clear that they are ending the relationship. Infidelity, cruelty or long periods out of contact can all end a relationship.

Modifiers to Sexual Diplomacy

???????????

??????????? Various cultural concerns might make sex more complicated for the NPCs. The following situations add new wrinkles to Diplomacy skill checks made for sexual purposes. All these modifiers are cumulative.

Situation

Diplomacy Check DC Modifier

Convincing an NPC into their first relationship or sexual experience

+3 DC

NPC?s culture prizes virginity or punishes non-marital sex harshly

+5 DC

Sexual act would result in a loss of class abilities, such as a Paladin?s moral code or Chaste?s oath of virginity

+10 DC

The player character is involved in a relationship with another NPC, and this is known to the current NPC lover (except in cultures where polyamory is normal)

+1 DC per additional relationship

The player is simultaneously trying to talk multiple NPCs into sex for a threesome, orgy, or more-gy.

+2 DC per additional NPC.

The player character is from a race, culture, alignment or allegiance hostile to the NPC or their culture.

+3 DC

The NPC had a previous relationship or marriage to the PC that ended badly, or has been previously betrayed or abandoned by the PC.

+2d4 DC

If the player has failed previous sexual Bluff checks or had their lies discovered by the NPC

+1d4 DC

Player character has a reputation for dangerous, cruel or predatory sexual behavior

+2 DC

The NPC has been chosen as a cohort by a player with the Leadership feat.

-5 DC

The player presents the NPC with a gift. The value doesn?t really matter so long as the gift is either heartfelt, really needed or extremely desired by the NPC.

-2 DC

The player is in a position of authority over the NPC lover.

-1 DC

The player has a reputation for enjoying a particular fetish of the NPC?s.

-2 DC for Kinky, Transgressive or Vile acts desired by the NPC.

The Goal of the Act

??????????? Once the player character succeeds in convincing an NPC into sex, the scene can either discretely fade to black, or be described by either the player or gamemaster, whatever those around the table are comfortable with. In most cases, the sex may be good, it may even be great, but in a story sense, the seduction was more important then the sex act that played out after.

??????????? The players can change that, making the sweat and cum an important, even critical part of their story. During any sexual act, the player can sacrifice an action point, and briefly describe some special action he or she takes that transforms mundane sex into an act of passion, or carnal expertise or sheer horror, that will drive their relationship with this particular lover for the rest of the campaign.

??????????? The player can choose any of the following sexual themes, which changes the nature of their relationship with the NPC (or NPCs involved in the orgy) forever.

All?s Forgiven

??????????? The sex is just so damn, toes curlingly good, the NPC lover can?t remember why they were pissed with the player character in the first place. Sexual Diplomacy checks made against this NPC no longer suffer a penalty for previous failed relationships, nor for discovered/failed Bluff checks, though depending on the player?s future actions, these penalties might find their way back into the relationship.

Debasement

??????????? The player performs degrading, cruel and sadistic, emotionally scarring acts with their unfortunate lover. Doing so is an evil act, and the player is considered to have committed rape. The player receives a +4 bonus on Diplomacy checks made to convince the NPC to perform a Vile act.

??????????? Outside of sex, the player receives a +2 bonus to Intimidate checks and a +1 bonus on melee attack rolls against this NPC. The player suffers a -2 penalty on all CHA-based skill checks, except for Intimidate, made against this NPC.

Dominance

??????????? The player takes total command of the NPC lover, body and soul, making him or her their willing sexual slave. This sexual theme can only be invoked during a Kinky or Transgressive sexual act. If in a relationship with the NPC, the player can always receive Kinky or Transgressive acts without requiring an additional check.

??????????? Outside of sex, the NPC will always hold their action in combat until the player acts, and receives an additional +1 morale bonus on checks and rolls when receiving the aid another action from the player.

Empowerment

??????????? The player has a strange kind of sex, one that is more about emotions finally bubbling to the surface than carnal release, allowing a previously abused or violated character a way to come to terms with the trauma in his or her past. The player chooses one of the following benefits for an Empowerment sexual theme:

  • The sex act is treated as an atonement spell for the NPC lover, but only for the purpose of wiping away specifically sexual sins.
  • The NPC lover receives a permanent +1 morale bonus on melee attack or damage rolls against any character that has previously raped the character or used the Debasement sexual theme against them.

Excellence

??????????? The player performs an act of tireless sexual stamina and carnal expertise, hitting all of their lover?s sweet spots?. multiple times. The player receives a +2 bonus on Diplomacy checks made to convince the NPC to perform Kinky or Transgressive acts. If in a relationship with the NPC, the player can always receive Kinky or Transgressive acts without requiring an additional check.

Passion

??????????? The player makes tender, passionate and emotional love to the NPC, concerning themselves with their lover?s pleasure above their own. The PC can immediately choose to begin a Relationship with one NPC involved in the act without requiring a check. The player character receives a +2 bonus on checks to convince that NPC into marriage.

??????????? Outside of sex, the player receives a +2 bonus on Diplomacy and Gather Information checks involving this NPC.
