Men?s Basketball ? The Heat men will hit the hardcourt away from Kelowna for the first time in their preseason. The men will play in the Calgary Cup starting this Thursday (5 p.m. PST) when they take on the Brock Badgers from St. Catharines, ON. The Heat will be guaranteed three games in the three days (Thu-Sat) at the Cup with games to be played at the University of Calgary and Mount Royal University. Opponents and game times will be determined from the result of the previous game. Other teams competing at the Calgary Cup are: Calgary, Mount Royal, Windsor, Western, Saskatchewan, and SAIT.

UBC Okanagan has won all three of their preseason games played this year, and will look to continue their winning ways against their first CIS opponents of 2012-13. The games from the Calgary Cup will have live stats on www.canadawest.tv.

Women?s Basketball ? The women?s team will get a good look at their first Canada West opponent this weekend when the head to Victoria for a pair of games ? Victoria will also host the Heat Nov 2-3 for the league opener. The Vikes and the Heat will play Friday and Saturday night with Friday night tipoff at the McKinnon Gym at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 5 p.m. The UBC Okanagan Heat have only played two preseason games so far and have not yet managed a win.

Both games will be broadcast live at http://uvic.canadawest.tv

Cross Country ? The? men?s and women?s cross country teams will head back to the Puget Sound again just two weeks after a good showing in Tacoma at a race at Pacific Lutheran University. This Saturday the Emerald City Open at Seattle University will provide runners from UBC Okanagan?s campus a stiff challenge. The women will start at 10 a.m. and will run the 6 km course; the men will run 8 km and will begin at 11:15 a.m.

Women?s Soccer (CCAA ranking: No. 8) ? Just four games remaining for the Heat, all of them at home. The two games this weekend will have UBC Okanagan jockeying for one of the four playoff spots when they matchup with the team just above and just below the third place Heat. UBC Okanagan with a record of 4W-1L-5T will play the second place Langara Falcons (6W-3L-1T) on Saturday (1 p.m.) and with a win the Heat will move into second place in the PACWEST. In their previous meeting this season in Vancouver the Falcons and the Heat played to a 2-2 draw.

Sunday at 12 p.m. the third place Quest University Kermodes (4W-4L-2T) will challenge the Heat on the Nonis Sports Field. The Kermodes will be fighting for a playoff spot and will look to avenge their 3-0 loss to UBC Okanagan in Squamish on Sep 16.

Men?s Soccer ? The UBC Okanagan men?s soccer squad will need to win their final four games to have any chance at making the postseason. The first must win game for the Heat (0W-6L-4T) will be against the 5W-4L-1T Langara Falcons on Saturday at 3p.m. The Heat played Langara to a 1-1 draw in Vancouver in their first matchup of the season.

Sunday the winless Quest Kermodes (0W-8L-2T) will invade UBC?s Okanagan campus to face the Heat. The game will get underway on Sunday at 2 p.m. All soccer games will be played at the Nonis Sports Field on UBC?s Okanagan Campus.
